Francesco's work has been focusing on investigating plant-water relationships at different scales, applying several statistical methods including AI. He will use this expertise to study forest dynamics as part of a European project focused on evaluating the effects of natural rewilding of abandoned agricultural land on carbon sequestration and biodiversity.

Justine Charlet de Sauvage wins the first prize in the Swiss Competition for Phenological and Seasonal Research 2021! The phenology contest is organized by the Commission for Phenology and Seasonality. Justine applied with her master thesis project on “Temperature rather than individual growing period length determines radial growth of sessile oak in the Pyrenees”.

Each year the FORMON  summer school invites PhD. students, MSc. students in their last academic year and postdocs from several countries to address a different topic. The 2021 edition focused on forest monitoring as a tool to assess forest functioning under air pollution and climate change.
